MUMBAI: After the lull during the recent civic polls in Mumbai, post-poll violence has been reported in many regions that went to the polls. The candidates, party activists and sympathisers are targets of these sporadic outbreak of violence.

While a BJP office-bearer was allegedly murdered in Dharavi, an MNS candidate has been booked for the murder of an activist belonging to a rival political party.BJP treasurer in Sion Assembly segment Vasant Jota was killed on Sunday night.  According to Jota’s supporters, the murder was the result of political rivalry. Though the police have not been able to establish the motive of the murder, they have not ruled out political rivalry.  In Nagpur, the police arrested MNS candidate Sanjay Barisah and another person on the charges of murdering Keshvanand Akhre.  Akhre was allegedly murdered by Barisah for supporting a BJP candidate, who emerged victorious.
