NEW DELHI: The election scene in Uttar Pradesh  is hotting up with the BJP announcing its second list of candidates.

The BJP central election committee met on Monday to chalk out the list of 81 candidates. The list includes six former ministers, as many former MLAs, eight women, 14 SC candidates and one from minority community.   

Daddan Mishra, who was a minister in the Mayawati-led BSP Government will contest on a BJP ticket from Bhinga and another former BSP minister Awdhesh Verma, will contest from Dadraul. Former SP MLA Arun Yadav will be BJP’s candidate from Jalalpur.

The BJP also declared 48 candidates for the Assembly polls in Uttarakhand. Chief Minister B C Khanduri will contest from Kotdwar and former CM Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank from Doiwala.It also declared candidates for 20 of the 23 seats that it will contest in Punjab.
