MUMBAI: Now, taxi, autorickshaw and heavy vehicles drivers have a golden opportunity to complete their education.
Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, through its unique initiative, has started canvassing the drivers to join its regular three-year curriculum, which would start from July this year. “Obtaining a degree will make the drivers, who in most cases are school dropouts, to apply for driver jobs in govt establishments where higher secondary certification is the basic qualification,” said Anuradha Deshmukh, director of Collaborations.
