Yoga guru Baba Ramdev stole the show from the fasting Team Anna as he, along with thousands of his supporters, marched to the protest venue at Jantar Mantar here on Friday.

Since Thursday morning, Team Anna was trying to put up a brave front even in the face of thinning public support to their stir for a stronger Lokpal Bill, with anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare asserting that he would continue with his fight with or without public support.  Around 3 pm, Ramdev and almost 2,000 of his supporters swarmed Jantar Mantar. But the fissures in his alliance with Team Anna were quite visible.

During his address, Ramdev countered Team Anna’s attack on President Pranab Mukherjee as the latter holds the highest Constitutional office. “President is a Constitutional post. One should not criticise those who occupy Constitutional posts,” Ramdev said, adding that even Hazare agreed with him on the issue.

On Friday, Ramdev reiterated that he was against personal attacks on anyone, but would continue to support the anti-corruption movement. Ramdev is all set to launch his own agitation against black money from August 9.
