NEW DELHI: A senior DGCA official in the rank of joint director was suspended on Friday in connection with a flying clubs scam.

The development took everyone, including Director General Bharat Bhushan, by surprise.  A K Sharan and two others were suspended after the Central Vigilance Commission probed into flying clubs being registered as non-profit making societies though they were making profit in crores.

The CVC report had concluded that a loss of `190 crore was caused to the government exchequer. As many as 28 clubs were making profits as per the CVC finding.

Earlier this week, the CVC had submitted its  report to the Civil Aviation Ministry for action.
