MUMBAI: City police today seized a huge cache comprising live cartridges and rifles from a ground near a school in the suburban Andheri.
A case has been registered against unidentified persons after 240 live cartridges and twelve rifles were found dumped at the ground, police sources said.
The rifles were found in a box from had "Indian Ordnance Factory, Made in India" written on it, they said.
"We have registered a case and are questioning the people nearby to find out about the identity of the persons", said a police official.
Versova police, who have registered the case, will be making queries with the ordnance factories in Ambernath, Thane and Pune to find out about the box.
