39 new dengue cases push total to 1,762 in Delhi

Thirty-nine new dengue cases have been reported in the capital, taking the total number of those suffering from the disease in Delhi to 1,762, official data showed Tuesday.

Of the 39 new cases, 10 were reported from areas under North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), 16 from South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) and 13 from East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC).

The mosquito-borne disease has claimed four lives since it hit the capital this year. SDMC has reported the maximum number of cases at 679 from its area.

Apart from Delhi, 12 dengue cases originating from neighbouring states pushed the total to 1,774 in the capital region.

In 2011, a total of 1,021 dengue cases were reported in Delhi with five deaths, down from 6,087 cases with seven deaths in 2010.
