Amritapuri Ready for Mata’s birthday

Amritapuri is all set for the 59th birthday celebrations of Mata Amritanandamayi on Thursday. The birthday function will be held at the Amritapuri campus of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. A seating capacity for two lakh persons has been arranged at the venue on the campus ground. Over twenty food counters and arrangements for drinking water have also been made. 

The birthday celebrations will commence at 5 am with Ganapathi Homam led by Sooryakaladi Jayasooryan Bhattathirippad. It will be followed by a talk by Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri, vice-chairman of the Math.  Mata will be ushered to the stage at 9 am by Mohinyattam performed by students of Amrita University. Chhattisgarh Governor Shekar Dutt, central and state ministers, sanyasins from various Ashrams and dignitaries from the government and cultural sphere will attend the function. The Amritakeerthi Puraskar will be presented to writer C Radhakrishnan at the function.
