Court asks for Sheila’s medical records

Metropolitan Magistrate Namrita Aggarwal on Friday asked to produce before it medical reports of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, after she sought exemption from appearing before it in person in a defamation case she filed against former president of BJP Delhi unit Vijender Gupta.

Dikshit’s counsel Mehmood Parcha had submitted that she was undergoing treatment and hence could not appear before the court. The court then directed him to submit her medical records before it on or before the next hearing on April 27.  The court also observed that the matter was fixed for hearing on Friday, after Dikshit assured in the last hearing that she would appear before it in person on April 4, 5 or 6.

Meanwhile, Gupta also sought exemption from appearance in the court on Friday, stating he had to participate in a protest against the Delhi Chief Minister. The court allowed his prayer and asked him to be present on the next date of hearing.

In the last hearing on February 18, Dikshit hadn’t appeared before the court.
