NCP eyes early Lok Sabha elections

The NCP on Saturday said it was prepared for all eventualities, including early Lok Sabha polls.

Party spokesperson Nawab Malik said prospects of early polls looms large owing to the situation in Parliament.  “As some of the allies have withdrawn their support. With the government already in minority, any further withdrawal of support by the parties which are offering conditional support would result in early polls,” Malik said.

A meeting convened on Saturday by party chief Sharad Pawar seemed have chalked out a strategy for the party which aims to augment its strength in Parliament.

Pawar has asked his party men to be prepared for polls anytime. Pawar has said the partty would be contesting the Lok Sabha polls in alliance with the Congress and it would be following the existing seat-sharing agreement to contest 22 of 48 seats in the state, he said.
