Newly appointed Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) chief Arvinder Singh Lovely has said that Congress will not keep quiet if the Aam Aami Party (AAP) indulges in “vendetta politics” after forming the government in Delhi. Lovely’s comments came after AAP stated that it would investigate alleged instances of corruption by Sheila Dikshit-led government and the BJP-led municipal corporation. “We will definitely raise our voices if any party tries to settle its political vendetta,” said Singh.

Singh, however, reiterated that there was no change in Congress support to government formation by AAP. “Senior Congress leader Shakeel Ahmed and former Delhi Congress chief JP Agarwal had written to Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung on December 13 stating that Congress was extending outside support ... We are sticking to that,” Singh said, adding that a meeting of the Congress legislative party will be held to discuss the strategy in the assembly.

Agency reports, meanwhile, quoted Chief Minister-designate Arvind Kejriwal as saying that the party would bring the Jan Lokpal Bill in 15 days. He also termed the rule as “wrong” which makes it mandatory for a State to seek the Centre’s nod to pass a law. “We will bring Jan Lokpal Bill within 15 days... The Constitution says Delhi Assembly can formulate laws except on some issues mentioned in the State list. The State cannot make any law in violation of the Centre’s law,” Kejriwal said.

“We expect many obstructions to come in the government’s way but we will take them head on. They said aam aadmi cannot run government. We will run government in a better manner,” he added.
