Khurshid welcomes Kerry

In a congratulatory note, External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid has welcomed the new US Secretary of State John Kerry and looked forward to working with him to “intensify” India-US partnership.

“We are confident that with your leadership of the Department of State, we will continue to strengthen our partnership, not only for the development and prosperity of our two peoples, but also as a pillar of stability amid the many global and regional challenges confronting us,” Khurshid wrote in the letter dated January 30.  He noted that the next round of the Strategic Dialogue will be in New Delhi later this year. “I look forward to  being able to host you and Mrs Kerry in India soon”. He also wrote to Hillary, stating that she was regarded with “great affection as a friend of India”.
