Bajrang, J&K students clash at Jantar Mantar

Bajrang Dal members entered into a scuffle with Kashmiri students at Jantar Mantar on Saturday afternoon.

While Bajrang Dal activists were celebrating the hanging of Afzal Guru, the Kashmiri youth were protesting against the execution. Around 25 to 30 VHP and Bajrang Dal members gathered at Jantar Mantar, shouted slogans and distributed sweets.

Simultaneously, around 20-25 Kashmiri youth arrived at Jantar Mantar, carrying placards with messages “I am Afzal Guru, hang me too”, “Azad Kashmir” and “We want free Kashmir”.  

Soon after, a verbal altercation and scuffle ensued between the two groups. The police reached the spot and detained the protestors.

Meanwhile, members of CPI(ML) and Peoples Union of Democratic Rights and National Confederation of Human Rights Organisations arrived to condemn the hanging.
