Former air hostess Geetika Sharma's mother too committed suicide by hanging herself inside her house here Friday evening and blamed the same people as her daughter for forcing her to take the extreme step due to their harassment of the family, said police.
Anuradha Sharma, in her 50s, was found hanging in her bedroom here at her Ashok Vihar residence around 5.50 p.m leaving a suicide note naming former Haryana minister Gopal Goyal Kanda and his employee Aruna Chaddha - the same mentioned by Geetika as responsible for her suicide - for her death.
"Legal action would be taken against the duo whose named mentioned in suicide note," said Deputy Commissioner of Police P. Karunakaran.
A senior officer said that police is likely to register a new case of abetment to suicide against Kanda and Chaddha.
In the note, Anuradha said Kanda and Chaddha were continuously harassing her family to take back the case. She also wrote that she was in depression, the officer said.
"A relative, Jyoti spotted Anuradha's body hanging from the ceiling fan in the same room on the first floor where Geetika had committed suicide. She informed her husband, who informed police and victim's son Ankit Sharma," said the officer.
Anurdaha's husband was outside the house when incident took place, police said.
Geetika, 23, a former air hostess in the defunct MDLR airlines belonging to Kanda, had committed suicide on the intervening night of Aug 4-5, 2012 by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her house.
She had left two suicide notes naming Kanda and Chaddha for harassing her and driving her to suicide.
Both Kanda, who is the prime accused in the case for abetting the suicide of Geetika, and Chaddha are now in judicial custody and have denied the allegations.
Charges of criminal intimidation and abetment to suicide were slapped on Kanda and Chaddha after Geetika's suicide.
Kanda was arrested Aug 18, 2012 after he surrendered at north Delhi's Ashok Vihar police station while Chaddha was apprehended Aug 8, 2012.
Police filed the charge sheet Oct 6, 2012.
The Delhi High Court had rejected the bail plea of Kanda on Nov 19, 2012 and Chaddha on Dec 3, 2012.
