A group of Kashmiri youth todayheld a candle light protest here appealing the Centre to allowthe family of Parliament attack convict Mohammad Afzal Guru,who was executed in Tihar jail recently, conduct his lastrites as per their customs.
"We appeal to the government of India to allow the familyof Afzal Guru to conduct his last rites as per their customsand wishes," chairman of the group, Global Youth Foundation,Touseef Raina told reporters near the Press Enclave here.
He said the family was not given due notice of therejection of the mercy plea or prior notice of Guru'sexecution.
"The least his wife, young son and brothers deserved ascitizens was a last chance to meet Guru," he said.
The group appealed the Centre to order a thorough andindependent investigation into the case.
"There should be a thorough and independent investigationof the officers and forces who Guru named in his testimony tothe courts," he said.
