CBI files charge sheet in DSP murder; Raja Bhaiya not named

CBI today filed a charge sheet before the special court in the murder of Kunda DSP Zia-ul Haq without naming former minister Raja Bhaiya, who was an accused in the FIR filed by the officer's wife.

CBI sources, however, clarified that probe into the alleged role of Raja Bhaiya is still open and the agency might file a supplementary charge sheet if his role surfaces at a later stage.

They said CBI has mentioned in the charge sheet that brother of village head Nanhe Yadav, who was shot dead before Haq, was killed by gun shot from his own weapon in a scuffule which took place after the arrival of police at the crime scene.

The sources said CBI has booked Babloo Yadav, son of Nanhe, his two brothers among others for allegedly killing the DSP.

Yesterday, the agency had moved an application in the court of special CBI judge Mirza Zeenat seeking permission to conduct polygraph test on the former food and civil supplies minister with his consent.

The court has fixed June 11 as the next date of hearing on the application.

Haq was shot dead on March 2 in Balipur village in Kunda area of Pratapgarh district where he had gone to probe murder of village head Nanhe Yadav.

Haq's wife Parveen Azad had accused Raja Bhaiya of conspiracy after which he had to resign from the Cabinet on March 4.

CBI has named 12 accused in the murder case of the DSP including son of slain village head Nanhe Yadav--Yogender Yadav alias Bablu, his brothers Phulchand Yadav, Pawan Yadav and other neighbours and associates including Raghuvender Yadav alias Dablu, Manjeet Yadav, Ghanshayam Yadav, Ram Lakhan Gautam, Chhote Lal Yadav, Ram Ashre alias Panne, Munna Lal Patel, Shiv Ram Passi and Jagat Bahadur Pal alias Bulle Pal.

Jagat Bahadur Pal alias Bhulle Pal is alleged to be a security guard of Raja Bhaiya. However, any association with him has been denied by the former minister.

In its charge sheet, CBI has said the then Circle Officer, Kunda had gone to the house of Nanhe Yadav, Pradhan in order to deal with law and order situation arising out of the murder of Nanhe Yadav, Pradhan.

The family members and supporters of Nanhe Yadav led by Suresh Yadav (since dead) assaulted the then CO and the other three police officials accompanying him.

It said the officer was caught and brutally assaulted by the accused persons but the three other police officials managed to escape.

During the scuffle, Suresh Yadav sustained gunshot injuries from his own gun with which he was hitting the then CO, Kunda while the accused persons assaulted and killed Haq.
