The CBI has filed a chargesheet in a CBI special court against arms dealer Abhishek Verma, his wife Anca Neacsu, defence equipment supplying company Rheinmetall Air Defence (RAD) and its Delhi-based representative.
According to the CBI, Verma, who is also an accused in Naval War Room leak case, took `5.30 lakh dollars from the Rheinmetall Air Defence to stall the blacklisting procedures initiated by the Indian Government.
The CBI had recommended blacklisting of the RAD as it had allegedly adopted corrupt and illegal means to obtain the contract for supply of 35 MM revolver gun system by Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) in 2011. Verma allegedly contacted the representatives of the RAD and assured them that he would help them stall the blacklisting procedures using his influence among public servants in India.
The CBI says that Verma had accepted the amount from the RAD through Ganton USA, a benami company allegedly controlled by him.
