Around 400 Sikh pilgrims from India, who arrived in Pakistan to observe the 407th death anniversary of Guru Arjun Dev, are hoping that the two nations take steps to improve relations.

The pilgrims arrived at the Wagah railway station by a special train Saturday, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported Sunday.

They were received by officials of the Shrine Evacuee Trust Property Board and the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.

Group leader Sardar Rampal Singh Bhaniwal hoped for better relations between Pakistan and India, and called on both governments to take steps for the welfare of their people.

Soon after their arrival, the Sikh pilgrims left for Nankana Sahib where they will stay for two days and perform religious rituals. They will leave for Sucha Sauda, Farooqabad, June 10.

On June 11, the pilgrims will visit Punja Sahib Hassanabad and stay there for three days to perform religious rituals.

On June 13, they will go to Gurdwara Dera Sahib in Lahore. On June 15, the Sikh pilgrims will visit Aimanabad and Kirtarpur and return to Gurdwara Dera Sahib Lahore for more religious ceremonies.

The pilgrims will return to India June 17.
