SRK kicks up pre-birth test row

Actor Shahrukh Khan and his wife Gauri have courted controversy as the state government has ordered a probe into the alleged pre-birth sex determination test of their child through surrogacy.

The couple were in trouble after a city-based tabloid reported that they  are expecting a ‘baby boy’ through surrogacy in July. Though Shahrukh and Gauri are yet to confirm or deny the reports, the campaigners of female infanticide raised a hue and cry over the revelation of the unborn child’s gender.

Several female infanticide activists, including advocate Varsha Deshpande, had lodged a complaint with the State Health Department. State Health Minister Suresh Shetty directed the Mumbai Municipal Corporation to probe into the allegations.

The civic officials have already visited Shahrukh’s house.  However, they were not able to question either Shahrukh or Gauri.
