10 killed in building collapse

Ten people were killed and 14 injured when a building collapsed on the outskirts of Mumbai in Thane in the early hours on Friday. The three-storied building close to the Mumbra Railway Station on the Central Railway collapsed on early Friday morning. Among the dead, six are women.

The 35-year-old building had been declared a dilapidated structure by the Thane Municipal Corporation. However, nine families continued to reside in it despite evacuation notices issued by the civic body. In April, a building collapse at Mumbra had resulted in the death of 74 people.
