One dies in Tihar jail clash

An inmate of Tihar jail lost his life after two rival groups clashed in the jail on Friday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Javed, 27, a resident of Seelampur in East Delhi.

Tihar prison law office Sunil Gupta said that the incident occurred at 6.30 am when two groups having an old rivalry clashed, which resulted in the death of Javed. Javed was lodged in Tihar jail for the past seven years. A probe has been ordered into the incident.

Gupta said that some others, who were injured in the incident, have been admitted to the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya hospital.

Meanwhile, in the background of the death of Sarabit Singh, the Tihar jail authorities have beefed up security for the 20 Pakistani prisoners currently lodged in the jail.
