After a long time, despite the differences and political equations, family members of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder N T Rama Rao came together at a function to unveil his statue on Parliament premises on Tuesday.

Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar unveiled the statue near the Rajya Sabha gate.

Vice-President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and her Rajya Sabha counterpart Arun Jaitley and a galaxy of political leaders and Parliamentarians were present on the occasion.

Former chief minister and son-in-law of NTR, Chandrababu Naidu, NTR’s sons Bala Krishna, Hari Krishna and grandson junior N T Rama Rao were also present. NTR’s second wife Lakshmi Parvathi also attended the function.

N T Rama Rao’s daughter and Minister of State for Industry and Commerce D Purandeshwari had sponsored the 9.3 feet bronze statue sculpted by D Mayacharya.
