A Supreme Court Bench of Justice B S Chauhan and Justice Ibrahim Kalifulla will on Wednesday hear the writ petition filed by S Gurumurthy on the illegal 323-line private telephone exchange set up by the BSNL at Dayanidhi Maran’s home when he was the Telecom Minister.

The New Indian Express had exposed the fraudulent exchange in 2011. As there was no concrete effort on the CBI’s part to investigate the matter, Gurumurthy moved the SC by a PIL plea in January 2011. Earlier, Justice Aftab Alam and Justice Ranjana Desai had issued notice to the BSNL and CBI on January 11, 2013, to respond to the petition.

The case could not be heard as Justice Alam was retiring in April and was not taking up any fresh cases. And the hearing of the petition got delayed by almost four months.
