Government unable to find suitable candidates

The Culture Ministry has published advertisements seeking applications to fill up the posts of Kalashetra Foundation director, NAI, National Library and even ASI. As in many cases, the government was unable to find suitable candidates from experts and were looking for replacements from the bureaucracy, sources said. As per the advertised vacancies, a government official can seek deputation from other departments to these institutions.

Ironically, the Ministry created several new posts to improve the working of these institutions. Even posts like that of Additional Director General and Joint Directors General in Archaeological Survey of India, National Museum, National Archives of India, National Library, Kolkata, and Director, National Gallery of Modern Art, have not been filled up.

Listing reasons for these vacancies, Culture Minister Chandresh Kumari Katoch said, “Rules were under finalisation; officials in the feeder grade have not completed the required service for promotion; non-receipt of nominations from the Union Public Service Commission and the Staff Selection Commission.”
