Rajnath meets kin of slain leaders

BJP president Rajnath Singh on Wednesday met the families of Congress leaders, who were killed in the Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh, and expressed his condolences. He, along with the state Chief Minister Raman Singh, also visited the injured at hospital.

The BJP seems to be trying to contain the political fallout of brutal attack that wiped off the top Congress leadership in the state. In its Parliamentary Board meeting on Tuesday, the party had planned the visit of Rajnath and Rajya Sabha MP JP Nadda to Raipur.

“I have come here to pay tribute to martyrs of the Naxal attack,” Rajnath said and added that the state government has already ordered a judicial inquiry into the incident. He made it clear that he would appeal the Centre to take other parties into confidence and chart out a comprehensive plan to tackle Maoists.

Senior BJP leader L K Advani had visited injured Congress leader V C Shukla in Gurgaon.

The BJP had earlier accused the Congress of trying to polticise the attack, after the latter said the incident pointed towards a larger Naxal problem.
