Mayawati seeks clarification on snoopgate

Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Friday demanded that Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi should come out with a clarification on the alleged illegal snooping of a young woman architect by the Gujarat Police.

Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Friday demanded that Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi should come out with a clarification on the alleged illegal snooping of a young woman architect by the Gujarat Police. The BSP leader was addressing a hastily convened news conference at the BSP headquarters here, where she said that those behind the incident should be brought to justice at the earliest.  According to Mayawati, the stalking incident involving Gujarat officials who were acting on the orders of their bosses, had outraged the country.

“Modi should clarify his stand on the snooping issue and the nation is waiting to see what he has got to say on the matter. The accused in the case should be punished severely,” she said.

She also flayed the BJP for “honouring“ two of its MLAs, who had been jailed over their alleged involvement in the recent communal carnage in Western UP.

And she alleged that the SP Government’s decision to provide compensation to only one section of the Muzaffarnagar riot victims was a clear instance of vote bank politics.
