PM, FM rejects curfew proposal on petrol pumps

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister Chidambaram have both rejected the idea mooted by Petroleum Minister Veerapa Moily to impose curfew on petrol pumps at night. The proposal to shut petrol pumps from 8 pm to 8 am drew flak from all quarters, as the leaders of opposition parties came out with strong statements. In wake of the new developments Veerappa Moily has bactracked his earlier statements saying the idea came from the public.
