A piquant situation has arisen in Rajasthan where BJP MLA Manvendra Singh is caught between completing his family duties and his loyalty towards the party. Manvendra’s father Jaswant Singh was expelled from the party and is now contesting as an independent candidate against the official BJP candidate Sona Ram in Barmer. As Manvendra is still with the BJP, his campaigning for his father has pitted him against the party’s official candidate. As both father and son are not in best of terms with Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje, the state unit is contemplating action againt Manvendra. The BJP has asked him to quit the party or face disciplinary action and disqualification proceedings for “anti-party” activities. “Manvendra, who is campaigning against party’s Sona Ram in Barmer, should first quit on moral grounds as it amounts to anti-party activities or will face action soon,” state BJP vice-president Onkar Singh Lakhawat said.
