Army Chief Denies PLA Incursion

NEW DELHI: A day after reports said that Chinese People’s Liberation Army(PLA) had intruded into the Indian side of the Line of Actual Control(LAC) at Burtse in Ladakh at the beginning of this week, Army Chief Dalbir Singh on Tuesday denied any such incident along the Sino-Indian border.

“There is nothing like that,” General Singh said in reply to a question on the reported transgression by PLA troopers.

The reports had suggested that PLA had entered the Indian side of the LAC and were at a spot 25 km-30 km deep inside, what is perceived by India as its sovereign territory. The Chinese troops were spotted by the Indian troopers, who were on a patrol and following standard operating procedure, they returned to their base.

It also suggested that the Chinese troopers had squatted at the spot in  and had put up banners that read, “This is Chinese territory, please go back”.
