Uber Official Slapped

MUMBAI: The workers of an NGO headed by Congress MLA Nitesh Rane has slapped the general manager of Uber radio taxi services here to vent their anger on the company.

The workers led by K K Tiwari caught hold of Shailesh Sawlani, who had gone to the Collector’s Office in suburban Bandra to attend a meeting called by Transport Commissioner Mahesh Zagade. Tiwari asked Sawlani why he failed to take action against the Delhi driver who was earlier accused of committing the same crime. Irritated by his query, Sawlani asked Tiwari to mind his own business.

Angry over the reply, Tiwari, who heads NGO Swabhiman Sanghtana’s auto taxi union slapped Sawlani. The NGO has already sought Zagade a ban on radio taxis. “I only asked Sawlani why he did not verify the past of the accused. He said why was I bothered about it and asked me to mind my business,” Tiwari said.
