Conversion Row: Sena Echoes RSS

MUMBAI: The Shiv Sena on Monday toed the RSS line on reverse conversion. An edit in the party mouthpiece Saamna stated that there was nothing wrong with reverse conversions. It also flayed “those who kept mum when Hindus were converted to Muslims”.

“Till yesterday, Hindus were converted to Muslims. Then, nobody said those were done forcibly or through enticement. But now when the Ganga has started flowing in reverse, the pseudo-secularists are saying that the conversions are not right,” the edit, attributed to Sena pramukh Uddhav Thackeray, stated.

“What do all these ‘secular’ people have to say about forcible conversion of Hindus to Muslims during the Moghul rule and to Christians under the British and the Portuguese regimes?” it said.

“It looks like a big section of the BJP favours conversions but they are in a quandary as their party has government at the Centre and Maharashtra,” it said.

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Pravin Togadia have justified the reverse conversion.

Bhagwat has demanded that an Anti-Conversion Act be enacted.
