Cyberabad Police Announce Restrictions for New Year Eve Bash

The announcement came following allegations that some of the star hotels and resorts are encouraging illegal activities.

HYDERABAD: Cyberabad police today asked star hotels and resorts under their limits to wrap up New year eve celebrations before 1 AM and also announced a number of restrictions on such programmes.

The announcement came following allegations that some of the star hotels and resorts are "encouraging" illegal activities.

A meeting was today held between police and representatives of such establishments in which they sought compliance with rules and regulations to ensure conducting the events in an orderly and safe manner.

"It was noticed that star hotels, pubs and resorts are functioning beyond stipulated time limit besides there are allegations of hookah smoking, consumption of drugs at hotels and pubs, and rave parties in resorts," Cyberabad Police said in a release.

There are 25 star hotels, 3 pubs, 22 resorts and 269 farm houses that fall under the jurisdiction of Cyberabad Police.

"Last year's measures had resulted in zero deaths in road accidents, which is unprecedented. We request cooperation of all event organisers and event managers and establishment owners," police said.

The organisers are directed to hold the events between 8 PM to 1 AM only.

"No activities falling under the AP Gaming Act 1974 shall be organised and display of nude dances/acts/films, obscene gestures etc. are strictly prohibited.

"Use of firearms is strictly prohibited at the venues and the organisers are instructed to install CCTVs, door frame metal detectors (DFMDs) and hand-held metal detectors (HHMDs) at the premises," the release said, adding that burning of crackers will also be not allowed.

"Only couples of the registered members and their acquaintances are permitted. No single person (male/female) shall be allowed to enter the venues," it said.
