Money Power for Chiefs of Central Forces

NEW DELHI: The MHA on Friday increased the fund sanctioning powers of chiefs of paramilitary forces and directors of other security agencies for carrying out major works executed by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) and public works organisations.

The ministry enhanced financial powers in respect of items such as “Major and Minor Works, Special Repairs, Land Acquisition and Hiring of Buildings/Accommodation” to the Director Generals of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Directors of Intelligence Agencies. According to an MHA communique, the financial powers have been doubled from `five crore- `10 crore in respect of major works that are to be executed by the CPWD and public works organisations. The limit for major departmental works undertaken by organisations having an engineering wing has been raised from `60 lakh to `one crore and from `10 lakh to `15 lakh for organisations without an engineering wing.

Limits for minor works for residential buildings has been hiked from `15 lakh to `25 lakh and for non-residential buildings from `30 lakh to `50 lakh.
