The Delhi High Court on Wednesday asked the AAP to file its response to a plea questioning the source of its funds, by February 28.
Appearing for the party, advocate Prashant Bhushan told a Bench of Justice Pradeep Nandrajog and Justice Jayant Nath that the Centre’s submission that the AAP hadn’t furnished its account details was wrong and “misleading”.
Additional Solicitor General Rajeeve Mehra objected to Bhushan’s arguments. The Centre earlier told the court that it had written twice to the AAP to ascertain the source of its funds but the party didn’t respond. Advocate M L Sharma, who filed the PIL seeking a direction to register a criminal case against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and others for “illegally” receiving foreign aid, said the party was still collecting money.
