Defence Minister A K Antony on Tuesday said that unless India and China are not able to find an everlasting solution to border issues, more incursions may happen in the future. Referring to the frequent incidents of border tussle between the two countries in 2013, he said the Indian Armed Forces will have to remain vigilant to secure the borders. He was speaking on the sidelines of commissioning of Coast Guard vessel Abheek in Kochi on Tuesday. “I don’t expect a miracle to happen. Unless both the countries are able to find an everlasting solution to the border issues and demarcate the boundaries, I don’t rule out the possibility of occurrence of such incidents in future,” Antony said.
“You cannot expect a total elimination of incursions unless and until the borders are secure,” he said. Referring to the border issues with Pakistan, Antony said even though 2013 witnessed the maximum number of ceasefire violations, the incidents have come down in last few weeks.
