The Maharashtra Police on Thursday grilled Delhi University Professor G N Saibaba for his alleged links with Maoists in Gadchiroli district. After the arrest of a Jawaharlal Nehru University student, Hem Mishra, last year, police had seized computers and other documents from his residence.
Sources said Mishra, during interrogation, had named Saibaba as an over ground worker. Mishra had claimed that he was acting as a courier between the professor and banned cadres of Maoists. However, Saibaba had denied the charges.
“He was questioned for over five hours about his association with Mishra and Kobad Gandy. He was also questioned regarding certain documents recovered from his personal computer,” sources said.
However, Saibaba, in a statement, said the Maharashtra Police questioned him about his political activities.
