Waking up to the need for engaging with individual voters, the BJP kick-started its nationwide campaign to collect donations for 2014 Lok Sabha elections for its programme titled ‘Modi for PM fund’.
The saffron party aims to reach out to over 10 crore households in the next few months.
Party volunteers would reach out to voters to collect money ranging from `10 to `1000, and even give receipts. Leaders said it was not the amount of money, but connecting to the voters which was more important.
BJP president Rajnath Singh on Tuesday launched the drive from the party headquarters. People can donate to the party through cash or credit and debit cards, and each contributor will be given a receipt and informed through SMS.
The BJP also launched a separate party cell for technocrats and inducted several engineers and IITians into the party fold.
