After the Delhi Police alert on terrorist group Indian Mujahideen’s plot to kidnap Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, he said police officials met him on Sunday afternoon to brief him about the threat and requested him not to disclose it, but they themselves revealed it to the media, putting his life in danger.
“By announcing this, haven’t police made me vulnerable? Now anyone can attack and it would be said that Bhatkal’s men did it. Is Delhi police so foolish or are they playing politics? At whose instance? Kejriwal tweeted.
Despite the IM threat and subsequent briefing and request by Delhi Police, Kejriwal said he is not afraid about his life and strongly believes in God.
“I will not take any security. I would urge police to stop playing politics. Rather than giving security to me, let them deploy these men for Aam Aadmi’s security,” Kejriwal said.
Earlier, Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde had confirmed that despite Kejriwal’s refusal to take security, the Centre is providing proper security cover to him.
“When he was elected the Chief Minister he was immediately provided with security. We are now giving him security cover without his knowledge. It is the duty of any State government and the Centre to protect such VVIPs,” Shinde had said.
The Home Minister had disclosed that the security task is being carried out by Delhi Police and its Commissioner is also coordinating with the UP Police as Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal lives in UP.
The ‘shadow bomber’ of Indian Mujahideen, Yasin Bhatkal alias Mohammad Zarrar Siddhibapa, and his close aide Tabrez were captured in August last year from Nepal.
Recently the Intelligence Bureau had released warnings about suspicious money transfers from Karachi and Riyadh in a bid to activate several sleeper cells in Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Maharashtra to carry out terror activities.
