Acting against the indiscipline by its office bearers in tune with directive by Congress vice- president Rahul Gandhi, Gujarat Congress today removed 23 members of state executive including a vice-president and two general secretaries of their positions for not attending last two meetings.
"Party vice-president Rahul Gandhi had instructed to call meeting of state executive every month to strengthen the organisation of the state," party office bearers said.
All the people were duly informed before organisation of such monthly meetings.
"But office-bearers started remaining absent from these meetings without taking prior permission. State Congress incharge Gurudas Kamat in a last meeting held on January 24 directed to take action against those who are remaining absent," they said.
In accordance with the directive of Rahul Gandhi, party has decided to remove 23 member from their posts including four permanent invitees, one vice-president, two general secretaries, two executive committee members, three special invitees and 11 district incharges," a release issued by state Congress said.
However, Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi refused to give names of any of the 23 members who are relieved of their posts.
This is a major crackdown on indiscipline in the state Congress unit in the recent times, party sources said.
