BHOPAL: The Rajasthan Police has registered a case of rape against a Madhya Pradesh cadre Additional Assistant Inspector General (AIG) rank police official, Anil Mishra, who is presently posted in Bhopal in the CID department.
According to the complainant, a married woman who is the resident of Shanti nagar, Jaipur, she had got in touch with Mishra after a case of forgery was registered against her husband in the Nassarullahganj police station of Sehore district in Madhya Pradesh.
The complainant has claimed that Mishra had promised to help her in dropping the charges that were filed against her husband. Following Mishra’s assurance, the complaint came to Bhopal, where Mishra repeatedly raped and extorted money from her in exchange of helping her get her husband released.
“She has alleged that she was taken to Indore, Bhopal and Jodhpur by the officer and molested. According to her, Mishra also clicked objectionable pictures of her daughter and niece. The Jaipur police has contacted us, but we have received no written intimation till now”, an official in the Police headquarters, Bhopal said.
Despite repeated attempts, Mishra could not be reached for his comments. His family members, however, claimed that the woman had lodged a false and baseless case against Mishra as he had refused to help her.
The 46 year old Mishra, who is a 1994-batch IPS officer, has been posted in the CID branch as an AIG since October 2011.
Police sources said that the husband of the complainant used to give loans by mortgaging gold ornaments and had a shop in Bhopal. Later some of the people who had taken loans from him had filed a complaint with the police stating that he was refusing to return their ornaments. Later he was held and was lodged in jail for the last 8 months. The Rajasthan Police is trying to collect information from the hotels in Jaipur and Jodhpur, where Mishra, allegedly took the woman and raped her.
