PM Offers Aid to GAIL Fire Victims

NEW DELHI:Condoling the loss of lives in a fire at a GAIL pipeline in Andhra Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday announced an ex-gratia of `2 lakh from the PM’s Relief Fund for the kin of deceased.
It would be in addition to the assistance provided by the Oil Ministry and GAIL, a statement from the PMO said. A compensation of `50,000 was sanctioned for those injured in the incident.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister spoke to Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Cabinet Secretary Ajith Seth and GAIL chairman regarding the accident and asked them to ensure immediate relief.
“My thoughts (are) with the families of those who lost their lives in the GAIL pipeline fire in Andhra Pradesh. Prayers with the injured,” the Prime Minister tweeted.
“I have spoken to the Oil Minister, Cabinet Secretary & GAIL chairman and asked them to ensure immediate relief at the accident site,” the Prime Minister said in another tweet.
