LUDHIANA: A senior district Congress leader and his wife were found murdered under mysterious circumstances at Jagraon near here, police said today.
Suresh Goyal, a former president of the Jagraon Municipal Committee and his wife Sushila Devi were found murdered at their residence at Jagraon, 40 kms from here, they said.
Their granddaughter Shagun, who was also stabbed by the unknown killers, informed the police about the attack, they said, adding she was admitted to a Ludhiana hospital where her condition is stated to be critical.
Their house is situated in a thickly-populated Old Dana Mandi colony in the town, the police said.
The killers had managed to escape after the double murder, they said.
SSP Ludhiana (rural) Ashish Chaudhry said the police is working on various theories to nab the culprits.
"Nothing appeared to be missing from the house. Though we are not ruling out the possibility of an attempt to robbery," Chaudhry said.
