LUCKNOW: Police chiefs of two district in Uttar Pradesh were today suspended by the state government today for alleged laxity in duty.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav suspended Superintendent of Police Lakhimpur Kheri S K Singh following the kidnapping of a local Samajwadi Party leader in the district.

After being rescued, the SP leader alleged that senior police officers had warned her against naming the main abductor in statement to the police, sources said.

Firozabad Superintendent of Police Rakesh Kumar Singh was suspended after an eye witness in a six-year-old murder case was shot dead by three gunmen in the district today.

Police are yet to work out the case in which former BSP district unit president is an accused.
