Geete Seeks Change in Portfolio

NEW DELHI: Not satisfied with the allocation of Heavy Industries, Shiv Sena leader Anant Geete on Tuesday refused to take charge of the ministry and left the decision to party chief  Uddhav Thackeray. He is pressing for a change in the portfolio and Thackeray has taken up the issue with the BJP top brass. The Sena chief had on Monday raised the matter with BJP president Rajnath Singh. Geete, sources said, attended the Union Cabinet meeting after much persuasion by the BJP leadership. The Sena leader, however, said  Thackeray would take a final decision on Wednesday on whether to accept the portfolio.

The BJP leadership is trying to persuade the  Sena to accept the portfolio and Geete to take charge of the ministry. Geete confirmed that his party has sought a different portfolio, but did not spell out the Sena’s choice.
