BJP Protests Poor Power Supply in Uttar Pradesh

Over 200 BJP workers held a protest here Thursday against poor electricity supply in Uttar Pradesh.

GHAZIABAD: Over 200 BJP workers held a protest here Thursday against poor electricity supply in Uttar Pradesh.

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Ashu Verma accused the Akhilesh Yadav government of meting out "step motherly" treatment to industrial cities like Ghaziabad, Kanpur, Meerut and Muzaffarnagar that are faced with power cuts.

Verma said the state government had ensured regular supply to chief minister's home district Etawah and Rampur, the home district of Uttar Pradesh's influential minister Azam Khan.

The party workers staged a dharna in front of the chief engineer's office, broke mud pots, and submitted a memorandum to the city magistrate.

Verma said the Samajwadi Party government in the state had failed as the city faced power cuts of more than 12 hours each day, while there was no electricity in the rural areas for more than 14 to 18 hours daily.

BJP's Ghaziabad unit president Ashok Monga, and party workers Vijay Mohan, Baldevraj Sharma, Asha Sharma and Mayank Goel participated in the protest.
