V K Singh Signs in as MoS, N-E Development

NEW DELHI: Former Army Chief General V K Singh on Thursday took charge as the Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (independent charge) and promised to focus on road infrastructure in the entire region, especially in border areas. “I have a plan for the overall development of North-East. We will try our best to address all the problems faced by the region. There is a tremendous amount of work to be done for the region,” he said.

Singh also noted that the government would focus on improving road infrastructure in the North-East, including border areas besides trying to ensure robust economic growth in the region.

Having served in the North-East as Army officer in various capabilities, Singh said that he had a ‘fair idea’ about the region. He said he would try to find solution to the complaints of harassment of people from North-East in Delhi and would focus on addressing the sense of alienation among them.
