Railway Official Arrested by CBI on Graft Charges

NEW DELHI: CBI has arrested an Assistant Divisional Finance Manager, Northeast Frontier Railway, and his peon in a bribery case for allegedly withholding pending bills of Rs 16 lakhs of a contractor as bribe was not being paid.

CBI had received a complaint alleging that the accused manager was withholding of his pending bills for Rs 16 lakhs for the work of "preparation of meals at NGC running room" for the period from September 2012 to May 2013 due to non-payment of bribe money of 0.5 per cent as commission.

"The accused officer directed the peon who was on his orderly duty to receive the bribe amount of Rs 5,000 from the complainant.

"CBI laid a trap and the peon was caught red handed while accepting the bribe amount of Rs 5000 from the complainant on behalf of the accused. The Assistant Divisional Finance Manager was also arrested," CBI spokesperson said here today.
