Congress Confident of Victory in Haryana Elections

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Congress president Ashok Tanwar on Wednesday said that there was no Narendra Modi wave in Haryana and that the Congress would emerge victorious in the upcoming state elections since all the sections of the society were strongly with the Congress. Hitting out at the BJP over the leadership issue, Tanwar said that the BJP lacked the leadership to lead the state and give voice to the state’s issues.

He denied that the Haryana election was a Modi-Rahul Gandhi contest and added that the Haryana election is being fought on state issues. According to the HPCC chief, Rahul’s visit to the state and the three rallies scheduled to be addressed  by him  would certainly boost the Congress campaign in the state, he added.

Tanwar said that the people of the state were intelligent to make out the difference between false promises of the Opposition and the developmental works done by the Congress Government in the state.

He also referred to the various initiatives and pro-people measures of the Congress Government. Tanwar said that the Congress had worked for farmers, youth and labourers and all sections of the society in last 10 years. Hence, all the sections are solidly behind the party. The people would elect Congress Government to take forward the state’s development, he further added.

Meanwhile Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha and former Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Wednesday cautioned the people of Haryana against the Chautala- Parkash Badal nexus and urged them to ensure that the Congress returned to power in the state in order to provide continuity to the state’s development.

He also warned against the false promises being doled out by the BJP to mislead the people of Haryana as the party did at the Centre.

Addressing an impressive public meeting in support of the Congress candidate Anil Kumar Dhantauri at Nalwi village, Amarinder referred to the devastation caused in Punjab by the eight-year rule of the Akalis, led by the Badals, who are in alliance with the Chautalas in Haryana.  “The way they have looted and robbed Punjab, they will together loot and rob Haryana as well”, he warned.
