Three Open Fire at Cops, One Arrested

NEW DELHI: Two Delhi Police constables had a narrow escape when three motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire at Connaught Place here.

Constables Pratik and Sandeep, posted with Connaught Place police station, were on beat duty, when the incident took place at around 8:30 pm. They had noticed three men on a motorcycle and had signaled them to stop  near Mayur Bhavan.

The accused, however, decided against stopping and tried to flee.

“They were chased and caught near Railway Colony in Connaught Place,” said Additional Commissioner of Police, S B S Tyagi. It is alleged that one of the accused whipped out a pistol and opened fire. They fired four shots and police also fired a shot in retaliation.
