Public Holiday Declared in Maharashtra for Voting Tomorrow

MUMBAI: Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao has declared public holiday tomorrow for voting for Assembly election.     

A statement quoting Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said, "As the Governor has got direct administrative powers thanks to President's rule in the state, he was requested to declare public holiday for voting for assembly election."     

"Following the request by Javadekar, the Governor agreed to declare a public holiday," it said.     

Javadekar appealed voters in the state to take advantage of the public holiday and vote in large numbers to strengthen democracy, it said.
